Mark Thomas provided design and construction management services for the Highway Bridge Program (HBP)-funded Berry Street Bridge Replacement in the City of Calistoga. Built in 1919, the existing bridge had cracks in the abutment walls and deck, vulnerability to scour, load restrictions, narrow traffic lanes and sidewalks. The new bridge accommodates two 12-foot lanes, two 8-foot shoulders/bike lanes and two 5-foot sidewalks and is a precast, prestressed voided slab structure that has a shallow deck profile, avoiding conflicts with the 100-year water surface elevation.
