Mark Thomas designed this grade separation project. Harney Lane was a two-lane, east-west urban collector near Lodi’s southern city limit. Approximately ¾ mile west of SR 99 Harney Lane intersected UPRR at an at-grade crossing. With traffic on Harney Lane expected to increase as the city continues to grow, keeping the existing crossing would cause significant traffic congestion on Harney Lane, the surrounding intersections, and the SR 99/Harney Lane Interchange. The constructed project consists of a four-lane roadway with a raised median. The new overhead structure is a 248-foot three span cast-in place box girder bridge.
