Details
Description
SR 4 Bypass is a 14.5-mile long mixed highway/freeway alignment of Oakley and Brentwood, replacing a narrow two-lane congested SR 4. The project was separated into three segments. Mark Thomas was responsible for updating the EIR, preparing the project report, final design and construction staking of Segment 1, designing modifications to the northerly section of Section 2, and subsequently, additional final design projects in both Segments 2 and 3.
The project provided much-needed traffic relief and local circulation/mobility improvements for the cities of Antioch, Oakley, and Brentwood. The project included design and construction of: three interchanges (SR 4/Lone Tree Way Interchange; SR 4/Sand Creek Road Interchange; SR 4/SR 160 Interchange), six bridge structures, 1.5 miles of new arterial local roadway, and 3.1 miles of new freeway alignment.
