Description

Mark Thomas led the environmental clearance and final design for the SR 99/Veterans Boulevard Interchange and Extension project in Northwest Fresno, which includes a new interchange on SR 99 and a 2.5-mile six-lane corridor from Shaw Avenue to Herndon Avenue.

The project constructed a Class I trail along the new roadway, Class II and Class III bike facilities, sidewalks, and new ADA compliant curb ramps. The trail connects to the trail along Herndon Avenue to Barstow Avenue. The project also includes a grade-separated Class I trail woven through the SR 99 loop on-ramp.

The project included significant coordination efforts with High Speed Rail, UPRR, CPUC, Caltrans, FID, and multiple public and private utilities. Mark Thomas worked closely with Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District on the PS&E for installation of new FMFCD facilities and modifications to existing drainage systems.
