Placentia Avenue Grade Separation

Design of a grade separation under BNSF tracks, including ADA improvements and utility accommodation.

Details

Description

Mark Thomas designed geometric alignment alternatives, addition of right-turn lanes at intersections, signing and striping, and ADA corridor improvements to lower Placentia Avenue approximately 25 feet under the BNSF railroad tracks in the cities of Placentia and Fullerton.

During design, significant utility investigation and coordination with utility companies was required. We developed creative solutions to avoid the relocation of a series of SoCal Edison transmission lines and poles, saving $6 million.
