Description
Mark Thomas provided design and construction management services for this project to improve the interchange to accommodate additional traffic generated by the opening of a new Costco warehouse. The project included widening of Stoneridge Drive from east of the I-680/Stoneridge northbound off-ramp intersection to east of Johnson Drive. This accommodated lane configuration improvements at the northbound I-680 off-ramp intersection and at Johnson Drive as well as accommodated bike lanes and a widened sidewalk; widening of the northbound on-ramp from one to two mixed flow lanes and addition of a new ramp structure over the Alameda County Flood Control District 7 flood control channel; and widening the north leg of Johnson Drive at the intersection of Stoneridge Drive to accommodate the ultimate intersection lane configuration.
Mark Thomas helped ensure all of the various funding requirements of the project, which included Costco funds, City funds, and a federal grant through the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC), were met. The ACTC federal grant is the highest tiered funding source, and therefore our services are consistent with a federally funded project. These services include providing full time civil inspection, structure inspection, inspection of underground utilities, materials testing, a structures representative, and a full time Resident Engineer.
