East Main Street Improvements

Design for safety upgrades, drainage, a Class I bike path, and multimodal access, to create a complete street.

Details

Description

Mark Thomas provided design services for improvements to East Main Street between East Street and Pioneer Avenue, aimed at creating a complete street with enhanced safety, multimodal access, and drainage improvements. The project included a landscape-separated Class I path, bike lanes with green conflict striping and bike boxes, and improved pedestrian facilities. Improvements near the I-5 southbound on-ramp required coordination and approval from Caltrans.

Additional elements included green stormwater alternatives to meet SACOG grant requirements, signal timing upgrades, and coordination with adjacent commercial driveways. Mobile LiDAR scanning was used for field surveying, accelerating the schedule and minimizing public disruption.
