Crittenden Bus Stop

Preliminary and final design for a privately-owned bus platform to improve passenger access and parking lot flow.

Details

Description

Mark Thomas led the design development and final design for the Crittenden Bus Platform project. It is an eight-bus platform that is located within a parking lot to the south of Crittenden Lane. Expanding campuses in Mountain View demanded the creation of a central boarding location for shuttle buses. The private transit facility features two transit islands that serve the same entry and exit flow of bus traffic.

This project also includes a raised pedestrian crossing to accommodate ADA requirements, as well as stormwater treatment facilities to adhere to stormwater treatment requirements. Although not a requirement, Mark Thomas designed the site landscaping and planting to promote the growth and natural habitat of the monarch butterfly. Located on private property, the project required extensive coordination with the City of Mountain View, including acquiring planning and building department approvals and permits.
