Description

Mark Thomas provided design and landscape architectural services for this active transportation and safety improvement project that provides a critical connection along Chase Drive. The project included the addition of a Class I multi-use path along the east side of the roadway from the Chase/Coloma Plaza to the spur trail connecting to the American River Parkway.

The landscaped parkway included Low Impact Development features that followed the Sacramento Stormwater Quality Design Manual; new ADA curb ramps, vertical curb, and gutter; and pedestrian-level lighting between the Class I path and the roadway. High visibility crosswalks were also added at Rinda Drive and Brenda Way to enhance safety for student access to Mills Middle School and Cordova High School.

The project provides a regional non-motorized route that supports housing, education, recreation, and park/agricultural land uses along the corridor.
