Supporting Future Engineers: Mark Thomas Sponsors ASCE UCI at PSWS 2025
Proud to support ASCE UCI at the Pacific Southwest Symposium, celebrating student innovation, teamwork, and technical excellence.
Mark Thomas was proud to sponsor ASCE UCI at this year’s Pacific Southwest Symposium (PSWS), hosted by Cal Poly Pomona. This three-day event brought together 14 universities from across Southern California and Hawaii, offering students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to hands-on engineering challenges.
UCI placed 8th overall, with standout performances including 1st place in Transportation for the second consecutive year, and 3rd place finishes in both Environmental Design and Timber-Strong Design Build. This year also marked a major milestone: UCI fielded a working concrete canoe for the first time in over eight years, successfully racing in all events and placing 9th overall.
Additional achievements included top 10 placements in Sustainable Solutions, Steel Bridge, Geowall, Surveying, and Technical Paper. We’re excited to see the next generation of civil engineers pushing boundaries and representing the future of the profession. Congratulations to all participants!
