Mendez Freedom Trail Opens: A Safer, Connected, and Historic Corridor in Westminster

April 14, 2026

We celebrated the Mendez Freedom Trail ribbon-cutting in Westminster, delivering a 2-mile protected bikeway, ADA upgrades, lighting, and safety improvements; honoring history while enhancing connectivity for the community.

The Mendez Freedom Trail is officially open following a ribbon-cutting in the City of Westminster.

Our team provided engineering design services to help transform Hoover Street from an auto‑centric corridor into a safer, more accessible space for all users, delivering a two‑mile Class IV protected bikeway, pedestrian lighting, ADA upgrades, traffic signal modifications, pavement improvements, and coordination at multiple at‑grade rail crossings.

Beyond transportation safety, the trail serves as an important cultural and community asset, commemorating the legacy of the Mendez v. Westminster desegregation case while improving everyday connectivity for residents and visitors. We’re proud to help deliver this community project that blends history, safety, and active transportation.
