Mark Thomas Selected to Support Kings County in Updating Regional Active Transportation Plan Promoting Public Health and Equity
We’re thrilled to announce that we have been selected to support the Kings County Association-Governments (KCAG) in updating their 2019 Regional Active Transportation Plan (RATP)!
Also known as the Kings County Walk and Bike Plan, this project aims to promote public health, benefit disadvantaged communities, and guide the region with a template Complete Streets policy. The report will identify active transportation improvements supporting safe walking, biking, and rolling.
The RATP encompasses urban and rural areas within the region, including downtown and tribal/community spaces. Our team will collaborate with key stakeholders across the region, including the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi-Yokut Tribe and other community areas, to consider all users of the transportation system and prioritize access for disadvantaged community members, as well as key land uses such as schools, parks, transit facilities, and other destinations identified through coordination with stakeholders. Our collaborative approach will empower the region to prioritize key improvements and position for successful grant funding pursuits, including the State of California Active Transportation Program (ATP) and the Federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A), and the RATP will be completed to demonstrate compliance with the ATP & SS4A requirements, providing eligibility for future implementation grant pursuits.
