Plans Underway for Navy Way and Seaside Avenue Interchange Improvements to Enhance Traffic Flow at Port of Los Angeles

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been selected to prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for the design of the proposed Navy Way and Seaside Avenue Interchange Improvements project for the Port of Los Angeles!
The Port of Los Angeles (LA) is the busiest seaport in the Western Hemisphere and serves as the center for global trade, ranking as the number one container port in the United States and the busiest port in North America, managing billions of dollars’ worth of cargo each year. The I-710/SR-47/Seaside Avenue corridor is an important segment that currently carries 10% of all US waterborne containers. The only remaining signalized intersection along Seaside Avenue is at Navy Way, which prevents this stretch from having a free-flowing mainline, adding to travel times and congestion for vehicles and trucks that are accessing Port facilities, as well as traveling through Terminal Island.
Improvements will reconfigure this intersection, remove the existing traffic signal, and modify access to relieve congestion, reduce travel times, and improve the movement of goods through the San Pedro Bay Port complex. Our team developed conceptual alternatives during the study phase of this project, and our efforts helped the Port secure over $41 million in grant funding.
