Inspired by People: Michelle Yu on Her Journey at Mark Thomas

At Mark Thomas, our culture is shaped by the people who live our values every day. HR Manager Michelle Yu recently shared a reflection on her first six months with us that captures what it means to feel connected, supported, and inspired in your work.

Here’s what she shared:

“6 months in at Mark Thomas, and I’m more inspired than ever by the people across our organization — especially our HR team. Being here has truly reinvigorated my passion for HR and why I’ve built my career in this profession.

Earlier this week, a fraction of our HR team (HR Managers, Travece Cruz, Kelly Maccarone, & our HR Director, Annie Lucero) gathered in San Francisco for an HR offsite and conference. We shared great discussions, deepened our HR knowledge, and bonded over the best gluten-free pizza. Bonus treat – I got to check off another matcha spot off my list in the Bay Area.

Beyond the fun, this time together reminded me that when we connect as HR professionals, we strengthen how we engage and support both the people and business.

A huge shout-out to our amazing HR crew: HR Generalist Sally Ma, L&D Manager Stephen Feltner, TA team Kelly Mitchell, CIR & Rena Bopp (Yamamoto), and Labor Compliance Melinda L. — I’ve really enjoyed getting to work alongside you all. I’m especially grateful for Annie, whose advocacy for HR+People is endlessly inspiring, and for Travece and Kelly, who’ve made my integration such a fun and seamless ride.

I’d be remiss not to thank Dave Moritz for connecting me to Mark Thomas — I couldn’t be more thankful.
