Calexico East Port of Entry Bridge Widening Project Earns 2026 SCAG Economic Resilience Award
Delivered with the Imperial County Transportation Commission, the award-winning Calexico East Port of Entry Bridge Widening Project improved freight mobility, reduced emissions exposure, and enhanced cross-border community access.
The Calexico East Port of Entry Bridge Widening Project, delivered in partnership with the Imperial County Transportation Commission, received the Economic Resilience Award at the 2026 SCAG Sustainability Awards.
The project eliminated a longstanding bottleneck at a critical commercial freight corridor, strengthening the efficiency and competitiveness of California’s freight system while supporting trade flows essential to both U.S. and Mexican economies. For Imperial County residents, the improvements translate into meaningful quality-of-life benefits, including reduced exposure to vehicle emissions, safer pedestrian crossings, and more reliable access to cross-border jobs and services.
Our team served as Engineer of Record on this design-build project, leading all civil design for the bridge and roadway widening, coordinating with federal and state partners, and delivering construction-ready plans ahead of schedule.
