A Day of Progress and Community Engagement in Southern California
Mark Thomas team advances key SoCal projects with a site visit in Norwalk and a community outreach event in Laguna Niguel, blending design progress with local engagement.
At Mark Thomas, we’re proud of our team’s hands-on involvement in advancing critical infrastructure projects across Southern California. Recently, Pat Somerville had a full day engaging with two important efforts that showcase our commitment to both engineering excellence and community partnership.
The day began at the City of Norwalk’s Firestone Boulevard Widening project, which includes a bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad track. Alongside team members Run Chen, Xavier Espinosa, and Juan Mendoza, Pat toured the construction site to see firsthand how our designs are taking shape. Witnessing the transformation from design to reality is a rewarding experience that highlights the tangible impact of our work.
Later, the team participated in a well-attended community outreach event with a local homeowners’ association in the City of Laguna Niguel. Pat joined forces with Jacki Scott, Jackie Young, and Ravi Shah to present on the La Paz Road Mobility Improvements project. The event featured an engaging presentation followed by thoughtful questions and dialogue, reinforcing the value of involving the community in shaping transformative transportation projects.
This day perfectly illustrates how Mark Thomas balances technical expertise with meaningful community engagement. We’re dedicated to delivering projects that improve mobility and quality of life while maintaining strong connections with the people we serve.
