Final Funding Secured for Sacramento’s I Street Bridge Replacement Project

The I Street Bridge Replacement Project secures final funding, moving into construction with Mark Thomas as a proud engineering partner on this transformative effort.
Mark Thomas is proud to share that the I Street Bridge Replacement Project in Sacramento has officially secured its final round of funding. This achievement clears the way for construction to begin and marks a significant step forward for one of the region’s most impactful infrastructure projects.
For the past 12 years, Mark Thomas has served as a key engineering partner on this effort. The project represents a true collaboration between engineers, city leaders, public agencies, and community stakeholders, all working toward a shared vision for improved regional connectivity and mobility.
The existing I Street Bridge, constructed in 1912, has faithfully served the community for more than a century. However, the aging structure no longer meets the needs of modern transportation. The replacement bridge will enhance access between Sacramento and West Sacramento, improving safety and supporting multiple modes of travel, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.
Reaching this milestone is a testament to the dedication and persistence of the entire project team. It reflects years of planning, coordination, and commitment to delivering a project that will benefit the region for generations to come.
Mark Thomas is honored to play a role in delivering infrastructure that strengthens communities and supports long-term growth and development. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped bring this project to this exciting point. We look forward to seeing construction begin and to watching this bridge take shape as a vital new connection for Sacramento.
