Description

Mark Thomas provided preliminary and final design for the San Fernando Road Beautification Improvement project located on San Fernando Road between Elk Avenue and the northerly limit of the City of Glendale at Spazier Avenue. A vital major north/south corridor arterial, San Fernando Road is used as a bypass to the I-5 and provides regional connectivity to the City of Burbank.

Mark Thomas developed four alternatives during concept development, conducted public outreach efforts that included surveys and public canvassing, community outreach meetings, and presentations to the Transportation and Planning Commission / City Council, and delivered final design for the Phase 1 improvements. Ultimately, this project included maintaining 2 lanes each direction and on-street parking, introduction of a new one-way Class II bike lane, numerous curb extensions, enhanced crosswalks, and bus stop relocation efforts.
