Description
Mark Thomas is providing final design for Segments O, P, and Q of the OC Loop, a 2.7 mile segment running along the Coyote Creek. The trail provides safe, off-road bikeway connections west to the beach, north to Santa Fe Springs and east to La Habra. Mark Thomas was responsible for securing over $50M in funding to implement both designs through SB 1 ATP Cycle 5 funds and construction through SB 1 ATP Cycle 6 funds. Segment O has grade-separated crossings at Valley View Avenue and Artesia Boulevard, Segment P has grade separated crossings at Firestone Boulevard, I-5 and the BNSF rail tracks, and Segment Q has grade-separated crossings at the UPRR and BNSF rail tracks and Stage Road.
The project includes multiple structures, including pre-fabricated steel bridges; concrete bridges; ground anchor, soldier pile, secant, and MSE retaining walls; reinforced concrete box undercrossings; and a soundwall.
The project will connect the adjacent neighborhoods to work, school and regional amenities while providing safe crossings of freeways, waterways, and arterial roadways. There will be dedicated off-street paths that encourage active lifestyles and strategies to protect air quality and improving access to jobs, parks, and schools.
