Description

Mark Thomas developed final design for Phases 1 and 2 of the Linden Avenue and Spruce Avenue Traffic Calming Improvements project. The project limits included Linden Avenue from Miller Avenue to California Avenue, and Spruce Avenue from Lux Avenue to Maple Avenue.

The improvements included pavement rehabilitation on Linden, installation of bulb-outs, bus-bulbs, high-visibility ladder crosswalks, median pedestrian refuge islands, advanced yield lines, Class III bicycle lanes, ADA-compliant curb ramps, pedestrian-actuated flashing beacons, and edge line markings along both corridors. The project upgraded existing features to current standards and enhanced bicycle and pedestrian safety throughout the area. Linden Avenue and Spruce Avenue carried high volumes of vehicular traffic, and the project aimed to reduce travel speeds while improving safety for all users.
