Description

Mark Thomas designed four federally funded bridge replacements over Stevens Creek in Santa Clara County, replacing one-lane steel girder bridges with CIP/PT concrete box girders and voided slabs. To address frequent overtopping during storms, the new bridges were raised and designed for all-season access, with improvements including roadway approach reconstruction, high retaining walls, rock slope protection, and drainage upgrades.

The team prepared hydraulic studies, environmental documents, permitting, bridge type selection, and final design. Construction was staged over two seasons to maintain traffic flow.
