Building Futures: Mark Thomas Supports the 30th Annual Model Bridge Competition

Mark Thomas team members volunteered as judges and mentors at Oakland Technical High School’s Model Bridge Competition, helping inspire future civil engineers.
The 30th Annual Model Bridge Competition at Oakland Technical High School was a tremendous success last month! Twelve teams of talented students from the Engineering Academy designed and constructed balsa wood and thread suspension bridges, adhering to strict engineering specifications. The bridges were evaluated by licensed Civil Engineers on both aesthetics and structural engineering, before being load-tested to failure.
We extend our gratitude to the students, faculty, parents, and volunteers who made this event possible. Special thanks to our Mark Thomas team members who generously volunteered their time as judges and mentors: Kevin Huynh, Brian Pham, Dane Dizon, Etty Mercurio; Jiayun Wu, and Brendan Walker.
We’re proud to play a role in inspiring the next generation of engineers and look forward to supporting this important event for years to come.
