Montauban Avenue/Hammertown Drive Roundabout

Final design and environmental clearance services for the conversion of a four-way stop to a mini-roundabout.

Details

Description

Mark Thomas led the design and environmental clearance for the conversion of a four-way stop control intersection into a roundabout at Montauban Avenue and Hammertown Drive in the City of Stockton. The project enhances roadway safety and reduces traffic congestion around the intersection, which includes the addition of new bike lanes along Montauban Avenue. The roundabout inscribe circle is 90-feet to minimize right of way acquisitions. Shorter splitter items were also used to maintain access to residential driveways located close to the intersection.

Intersection improvements include ADA upgrades, installation of signage and striping, new street lighting, and drainage upgrades. Additionally, this project included the installation of fiber optic cabling for a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera with interconnections to the nearby intersection at Montauban Avenue and Swain Road.
