Designing Complete Streets for Bay Drive Corridor in Santa Cruz to Enhance Safety and Mobility
We’re excited to share that we’ve been selected to provide complete streets design of the Bay Drive Corridor from West Cliff Drive to High Street in the City of Santa Cruz!
Bay Drive experiences heavy traffic volume from various modes of transportation and serves as a crucial link connecting vital destinations within Santa Cruz. From 2017 to 2022, this corridor witnessed 47 collisions, with more than 30% of them being a result of excessive speed. The City aims to transform the Bay Corridor to a human-centered route and is committed to improving safety measures along this corridor and enhancing options for multi-modal transportation. This vision includes separated bike facilities along the entire length, accessible pedestrian facilities, shortened crossing distances, intersection improvements to enhance the safety and mobility of all roadway users, and improvements to transit accessibility.
