We Are a Leader in Roadway and Intersection Improvement Projects

Mark Thomas is a recognized industry leader in the planning, design, and delivery of local roadway improvement projects. Our experience ranges from targeted improvements such as localized widening and intersection upgrades to large-scale arterial reconstructions and new expressway alignments. Our team is skilled in developing context-sensitive solutions that address local mobility needs, enhance safety, and improve operational performance. We actively integrate community feedback and preferences into our designs to ensure the final solutions reflect local priorities and gain public support. We work closely with local agencies to navigate project development, environmental clearance, utility coordination, and construction staging and management, ensuring successful delivery from planning through final design and construction support.

Roundabouts
Safe, Efficient, and Context-Sensitive Roundabout Design
Mark Thomas has extensive experience designing roundabouts for intersection control. We design roundabouts with the optimal balance between safety provisions, operational performance, and large vehicle accommodation. We take into consideration the varying environments that can include rural environments where approach speeds are high and bicycle and pedestrian use may be minimal where the design objectives are significantly different from roundabouts in urban environments where bicycle and pedestrian safety are a primary concern.
Converting an intersection from stop- or signal-controlled to a roundabout requires careful construction staging, especially when keeping the intersection open to through traffic during construction. Our construction management team is also experienced in developing, troubleshooting, and implementing traffic handling plans for roundabout projects.
