Mark Thomas Provides Surveying and Design Services for Port of Los Angeles (POLA) Project
Mark Thomas is providing surveying and PS&E services for the SR-47/Front Street/Harbor Boulevard Interchange for the Port of Los Angeles (POLA).
Traffic on westbound SR-47 and the southbound I-110 exit at Harbor Boulevard creates safety and operational issues due to nonstandard weaving when approaching the intersection. The Harbor Department anticipates that traffic back up in the service area will increase due to projected growth and development along the waterfront. The interchange requires modification to alleviate congestion and provide a direct connection to the existing West Basin Container Terminal facility for shipping terminal operators in the POLA.
Our survey team developed a topographic base map using conventional, LiDAR, and aerial photogrammetry methods, boundary retracement services, and development of a pre-construction record of survey. Mark Thomas is also supporting the POLA in the development of all Caltrans-style appraisal maps, legal descriptions/plat map exhibits, and right of way requirements maps to support property acquisition and appraisal purposes.
