Roadway Design Engineer II - Inland Empire

This is an exciting full-time engineering opportunity for someone interested in growing their career at a well-established firm with exciting project opportunities!  The primary focus of this position is project work, working on multiple tasks simultaneously and with a great degree of independence and proficiency. The Design Engineer II may also provide direction, guidance and review of work performed by Design Engineer I, Technicians and Interns.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design calculations & documents, memos and project reports (Ex. -grading, quantity take offs, procedures or manual cost estimating, designs) that meet the requirements of the client and follow Mark Thomas’ standard/Quality Control (QC) practices & procedures, as well as, details for all work
  • Independently prepare content for a technical report and/or supporting attachments, calculations, or other pertinent details
  • Provide quality content for plans, specifications & estimates (PS&E) packages with timely delivery and within budget constraints with minimal direction
  • Provide direction, guidance and preliminary review of the work performed by entry level engineers, technicians and interns
  • Update Project Managers or Supervisors regarding status of projects and progress of work products on a regular basis
  • Participate in presentations to internal or external audience on technical or project related topics/issues

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • 2-4+ years of progressive experience, preferably in a consulting engineering
  • Working knowledge of Caltrans, preferred
  • EIT required, Professional license (PE) preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency knowledge of advanced features of current engineering software (Auto CADD, Civil3D, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in general office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Soft Desk, etc.)
  • Ability to work individually and as a productive and contributing member of a team
