Engineering Technician - Ontario

OFFICE LOCATION: Inland Empire

Mark Thomas is looking to build a team of talented professionals & staff for its newest office location in Ontario, CA!

The role of an Engineering Technician is to perform assigned tasks that contribute to the completion of a project. General responsibilities include the preparation of plans, drawings, exhibits and performing technical calculations. The Engineering Technician may also perform duties in the field taking measurements, taking samples and/or verifying data.  This is done under the direct supervision of a licensed civil engineer.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare engineering documents, (grading, quantity take offs, cost estimating, designs) that meet the requirements of the project, client and follow the Company’s Quality Control (QC) Manual
  • Prepare various technical exhibits illustrating project components and/or details
  • Perform field duties as assigned
  • Completed assignments on time and within budget as determined by Project Manager/Division Manager
  • Provide timely communications on assigned work to project team members and supervisor as appropriate

      SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare project plans, estimates, calculate quantities, reports & prepare exhibits
  • Provide QC support as outlined in the QC manual
  • Provide support during construction phases of projects
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to manipulate field survey data
  • Consult and understand design manuals, agency standards and procedures
  • Demonstrate understanding of MT drafting and file naming standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current engineering software (Auto-CADD, LDD, etc.)
  • Convey technical information utilizing clear verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrate a dedication to the organization and industry through participation in training activities and actively seeking opportunities to contribute to the achievement of MT goals
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Certificate in drafting or 2-year degree in engineering drafting or technology
  • Additional college course work a plus
  • 0 – 2+ years’ relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Auto-CADD
  • Ability to work & collaborate in a team environment
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal skills
  • Ability to prioritize organize assigned tasks
