It's true we're a busy firm that works hard, but the projects are interesting and everyone's friendly enough that work seldom feels tedious. Just to be sure, though, we balance productivity with play through a year-round supply of company-sponsored fun. There are all-company events like the big family picnic, holiday party and the annual duffers-to-diehards golf tournament. We often gather a group to attend a hockey, baseball or basketball game and some of us gather in teams to compete in leagues or take part in charity walks and races. Many of us volunteer together for community events. And our nine regional offices often put on their own get-togethers, such as parking-lot barbecues and Halloween costume contests. It's corny to say that the company that plays together works better and stays together — but some corny ideas are also true.
