Design Engineer - Special Services, Cupertino

Qualified candidates must have a B.S. in Civil Engineering with 3-5 years of experience in design using AutoCAD. In addition to design work this position will involve site visits and coordination of inspection and sewer maintenance crews. Familiarity with the California Integrated Water Quality System (CIWQS) is preferred but not required. Sewer Inspector - Cupertino (Job code:WSCUIN0825 )
The position of Sewer Inspector requires the individual to conduct his/her work in a manner that will supply sufficient, high-quality field activity reporting on a timely basis to achieve the short and long-range goals and objectives of Mark Thomas & Company, Inc. as district administrators for local sanitary sewer districts.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- The inspection of underground construction
- Assist in pump station and related construction review and inspection.
- Transporting District materials and equipment
- Handling emergency calls including after hours and assistance to other districts on an emergency basis.
- Preparation of project Daily Reports
- Estimate of sanitary sewer overflow volumes or rate of flow.
- Familiarity of OSHA safety requirements
- Familiarity of the California Integrated Water Quality System(CIWQS) is strongly recommended
- Assist in the preparation of plans.
- Review plans, specifications and estimates.
- Spill Prevention Program, Health and Safety and Emergency Plan.
- Coordinate with outside agencies and utility companies relating to construction activities
- Proficient with company provided general office software.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in similar or related field
- Valid California drivers license
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and written
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusion.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situation.
